Escape Road 3
If you enjoy Escape Road 3
Escape Road 3 is a top-down driving game about one thing: staying ahead of the cops. You play a getaway driver who has to keep moving while police cars pile in from every direction, and the map keeps opening up the longer you last.
It is free to play in the browser, so you can jump in on desktop, phone or a Chromebook without downloading anything. This entry is bigger than the earlier ones, with more vehicles, more characters and a set of side modes stitched around the main chase.

What is Escape Road 3?
It is a chase-driving game viewed mostly from above. You steer a car through cities, deserts and suburban streets, weaving around traffic and obstacles while a growing pack of police tries to box you in. The core loop is simple to pick up and hard to master: drive, dodge, grab pickups, and stretch the escape as long as you can. What sets this third game apart is the variety layered on top, from swapping vehicles mid-run to a handful of themed mini-games that break up the pursuit.
Steering and vehicle controls
You drive with one hand and manage pickups with the other. Here is the full control scheme.
| Action | Desktop | Mobile |
|---|---|---|
| Steer and move | A / S / D or left / down / right arrows | On-screen buttons |
| Enter or exit vehicle | Spacebar | Tap the swap button |
| Pause | Tab | Menu button |
| Use a powerup | F | Powerup button |
| Aim the handgun | Right mouse click | Not applicable |
| Fire the handgun | Left mouse click | Not applicable |
Grabbing the handgun from cops
You do not start armed. When you take out a police car, it can drop a handgun. Once you pick it up, right click aims and left click fires, which lets you thin out the chase instead of only running from it. It is a mouse-only tool, so it is a desktop advantage.
Switching between cars, boats and planes
The escape is not stuck on roads. As the environment changes you can move between vehicles to keep going where a normal car cannot, which is why the runs feel longer than a plain street chase.
| Vehicle | Where it helps |
|---|---|
| Car | Cities, deserts and suburban streets |
| Boat | Crossing water and coastal sections |
| Plane | Covering ground fast over open areas |
| Glider | Staying airborne to extend an escape |
Mini-games and side modes
Between chases, Escape Road 3 drops you into themed modes that change the rules and the rewards. Each one is a different flavor of the same driving skill.
| Mode | What happens |
|---|---|
| F1 racing | Speed-focused laps that test clean driving |
| Zombie battles | Survive and push through zombie waves |
| Treasure hunting | Track down hidden loot across the map |
| Alien invasion | Fend off an alien threat while driving |
Unlocking characters and Mythic Cars
Runs earn rewards that you spend on the roster and the garage. There are more than 30 characters to unlock, plus a set of Mythic Cars that stand above the regular vehicles. Support items give you an extra edge in a pinch, so the longer you play, the more options you carry into each chase. None of it is required to start, and the game is free with no account needed.
Tips for longer escapes
- Keep moving. Sitting still lets the police surround you, and once you are boxed in the run ends fast.
- Learn the map edges. Water and open areas are where a boat or plane keeps the escape alive.
- Save powerups for the moment the chase gets crowded, not the first time you see a pickup.
- Grab a dropped handgun when it is safe and use it to break up a tight pack of cop cars.
- Treat the mini-games as reward runs. They pay out toward characters and Mythic Cars.
Why the chase keeps working
The pressure never really lets up. Police keep arriving, so there is no safe pause, and the vehicle swaps mean the escape can go somewhere new instead of ending at the first river or cliff. That constant forward motion, plus a roster and garage that slowly fill in, is what keeps a run interesting past the first minute.
